Campaigning for Woking Lib Dems

Caroline joined Southwark Lib Dems in a trip to help colleagues in Woking with their Borough Council elections. The team spent the day helping in Knaphill Ward, supporting local candidates Christian Morgan-Jones. Not only did the Southwark team help deliver lots of leaflets and meet local residents, they enjoyed the sunshine and the warm welcome and lunch!

Chingford Green By-election in Waltham Forest

Caroline has been out and about over the last few weeks helping in by-elections in London. The team in Chingford Green are putting up a really strong fight in a Tory-held ward. We're hoping an energetic campaign, combined with a history of regular Focus delivery over the last 20 years, may result in a shock victory in former Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith's back yard.

Opening the new Tibetan Buddhist Centre

Simon Hughes MP, Ward Councillor Caroline Pidgeon, Deputy Mayor Cllr Eliza Mann and former councillor Catherine Bowman joined local residents and members of Kagyu Samye Dzong London at the opening of their new Tibetan Buddhist Centre, in the 100 year old, listed Manor Place Baths in Walworth on Saturday 17 March.

Kagyu Samye Dzong London is a branch of Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery in Scotland, a group supported by Lord Steel in his former constituency.

Me and my shadow

Caroline was recently shadowed by student Rachel Hamburger, who wanted to find out more about local government, being a councillor, and the work of Executive Members.

Liberal Democrats currently have 4,500 councillors nationally and run or lead over 80 councils.

“As our strength increases we spend over £12billion nationally each year and we need to attract a wider range of people to stand as councillors, and that includes young people” said Cllr Caroline Pidgeon.
