Assessing the Met's draft turnaround plan

Caroline Pidgeon has written to the new Metropolitan Police Commissioner giving the Liberal Democrats' response to the Met's draft turnaround plan.

Caroline wrote:

I very much welcome the draft Turnaround Plan from the Metropolitan Police and that it has the right priorities to deliver the mission set out. I am also pleased that it recognises that cultural change is needed within the service to protect our diverse communities and that it recognises that it needs to develop new levels of expertise to protect Londoners in private spaces and online.

I am, however, concerned that this draft plan does not provide more detail around your priorities for the Metropolitan Police Service (Met). It is a very high-level strategic plan backed up with little detail.

The letter explains in detail concerns in several areas:

  • Neighbourhood Policing
  • Public Protection and Safeguarding
  • Standards and Care and Respect for Communities
  • Data-Driven and Evidence-Based Delivery
