New Ceramics Centre opened

Cllr Caroline Pidgeon officially opened the new ceramics classroom at the Thomas Calton Adult Education Centre in Peckham on Monday 10th September.

With a new Children’s Centre being developed at Rye Oak School, the Nunhead classrooms that had been used for classes in ceramics, woodwork, upholstery and fashion and design had to be relocated. All of the courses will now run from the Alpha Street Centre, where a crèche is available as well as student support services. The new ceramics classroom has been redecorated and features both kilns from Nunhead.

”Everyone can learn – no matter how young or old you are! This new ceramics centre will encourage existing and new learners to take part in classes, and I hope that ceramics work can be displayed throughout the Borough – in our libraries and leisure centres – to attract new learners to our superb classes” said Cllr Caroline Pidgeon, Lead Councillor for Education.
